Head Prefect Team and School Council
The School Council at Camden School for Girls has a long and important tradition. In 1978 it took the decision to ban school uniform and in 2000 it decided to institute a Head Girl for the main school.
The Council is elected each September with two representatives from each tutor group. The students hold a meeting every Wednesday lunchtime and discuss topics and issues brought by the representatives. The Council's wide ranging activities include menu decisions for the school canteen, the selection of the Jack Petchey award winner, the Christmas celebrations, drama productions and an enormous number of charity and talent show events.
Ms Kathia Derrar, Deputy Head, chairs the meetings but a strong team of the Head Girl and deputies run most of the working parties and projects. Currently, we are promoting one enterprise activity: the School Council Shop.
The Council is a flourishing student body and the reps are always called upon to champion the school, meet visitors and offer support to new students. They run a Students of Support anti-bullying group and are pursuing a programme of lunchtime clubs for the junior school. New ideas and opinions are welcomed, and the Council has a truly important and respected role in the school.
Congratulations to the new Head Prefect Team
